Anzac Day - 2015

Image
This year I felt it was important give some effort into Anzac Day as Samuel is learning about it a lot at school and is at an age where he has an understanding of it. On the 24th April his beautiful school finished their Anzac memorial garden in the front of the school and they had an opening ceremony to mark the occasion. On Anzac Day Sam and I got up at around 4:30am and we went into Beenleigh and followed the crowd until we got to the memorial garden outside the library. There were hundreds and hundreds of people. We were right at the back so Sam couldn't see anything and was getting quite tired and annoyed. Next year I think we will get up much earlier to get a seat at the front. It was nice to finally have experienced a dawn service and to be with people who were there to pay their respects also. Later on we participated in the march and Sam was very proud of himself, wearing Granddad's war necklace. Lest We Forget....

Our Tin Can Bay Getaway - 15th - 18th April 2015

Image
Over the weekend we stayed at Tin Can Bay. We were supposed to camp there (tent etc) but due to El's camping trailer not being ready and the crappy weather, we decided to transfer our payment to a cabin. I have to admit it was nice to just be able to rock up and take our bags in and that's that. Perfect for when you are only staying 3 days. The drive took about 2.5 hrs. Tin Can Bay is such a picturesque place. We would love to retire in a place like that. We stayed at Tin Can Bay tourist park and our cabin was lovely. We spent our days by the bay, the parks swimming pool and just generally lounging around. We also did a day trip to Rainbow Beach. It was beautiful there. A major highlight of the trip was when we got up and close with the dolphins, and fed them fish. The kids loved this and the questions never stopped. We will definitely come back here again.

Mark Guthrie Joke Book workshop

Today I took the boys to a Mark Guthrie workshop that was held at Beenleigh Library. They created their own Joke's Book, to the best of their ability lol Mark is an amazing artist and really engaged the kids. Here are some photo's of the workshop:

Calamvale District Park

Today I took the boys to a gorgeous park about half an hour drive from us. Calamvale Park. It was packed with people but we were lucky to get a nice shady spot on the grass and free wifi! Cant beat that! The kids were happy running around going on all the equipment, except Oliver didn't go on the main climbing attraction as I am pretty sure he has a fear of heights! They also had a scoot around and even smiled nicely for some photos with me! I really enjoyed laying on the rug, listening to Bethel music and just relaxing in general. I will have to bring the rest of the family down there one day for a family BBQ.
