Happy 10 years

Image
Yesterday Elliot and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We have been through so much the past 10 years, good times and bad. Elliot took me to Omnios Brothers,, a gorgeous seafood restaurant at Marina Mirage, and we had the nicest food. I had bbq king prawns and El had surf and turf (as usual). I had my first sip of wine in over a year and I felt sick lol. Leah kindly looked after the kids for us. Happy Anniversary babe, I love you!

I'm back!

Oooops! Sorry for leaving it so long to do a blog update! Life is pretty full on with the two boys, but here I am to update you all. Things have been going well in the Johnson household. Oliver is now almost 7 weeks and its just going so fast :( Before I know it he will be 6 months old! Some good news is that his lump on his head has completely gone and I think I have to credit chiro for that. Within a matter of two days the lump vanished. He did have a small flat spot on the side of his head but after each chiro appointment I can see an improvement in the shape of his head and his movement in his neck. A few days after we got out of hospital I noticed he was very unsettled and would scream every time I touched his belly (which was rock hard). He hadn't done a poo in 5 days when he was very regular beforehand. So I rang my LC and she suggested giving him a suppository. I did it and within 5 minutes he did the BIGGEST GREENEST poo Ive ever seen (must have been the biliruben coming ...

Our hospital visit

I took Oliver to the clinic to get him weighed and the same nurse that saw him at 3 days old saw us and said that his jaundice is looking the same, or even worse. She recommended I go and get Oliver a blood test to check the levels out. The next day we had the test done and the dr called me as he was a bit concerned. His levels at birth were 218 but had come back at 350. I rang the hospital and let them know and they wanted us to come in the following morning for another blood test to see if the levels had dropped at all. So we went in and they took the blood, but this time instead of it being a heel prick test, they actually had to put a needle in his arm as they were testing for other things as well. It was pretty horrible to watch, as are all blood tests done on a baby :) I then hung around a bit and a few hours later the levels came back at 340. The pediatrician came and saw me and said we could leave it and let it go by itself but the fact that he is looking quite jaundice he woul...

Happy 2nd Birthday Samuel!

Can't believe my little man is 2! The time has just flown! On Sunday we met up with everyone at Beenleigh Tavern for lunch. Originally we were going to go to the Bearded Dragon but it had been raining so was extremely soggy there. In my sleepiness I had forgotten to txt Naomi to tell her we were now meeting in Beenleigh instead and so after sitting at the tavern for half an hour Naomi rings Leah to see where were all were and she told her they were at Mount Tambo! Oppps so sorry Naomi! After they arrived we all ate a nice lunch and then came back to ours for a gorgeous truck cake Janette had kindly made. Samuel absolutely loved it! It was a bit hectic with everyone in my small house but it was nice to have us all together. We even got a photo of all the grandkids together! Samuel got a ride-in-car, play truck and cleaning set from El and I, a huge cubbyhouse from Naomi and Leah, $35 each from Mum and Nan and $70 from Vicki. Mum is up from Sydney and had been staying at mine for a w...

Oliver's Birth Story

Wednesday 22 nd September, 2010 I was booked in to be induced at Redlands Hospital . I spent the day doing the last of my packing, cleaning and writing up ‘instructions’ for my neighbour for when she had to look after Sammy. At 4.15pm we packed the car (Samuel with us) and headed off to the hospital. We arrived at 5pm and were taken to my room where I was set up on the bed with the heartbeat monitor. For the next 45 minutes bub’s heartbeat was monitored and I had to press a button every time I felt him move. El and Samuel stayed with me for 45 minutes and then said their goodbyes (bedtime for Sam). Next it was gel time. At 6pm they did an internal and the cervix was quite soft but still posterior and high up. They inserted the gel and left me on the monitor for another hour. After this it was taken off and I was told to get some rest and they would be back around 9pm to give me some sleeping tablets to try and get some rest. They said at 7am they would take me down to the bir...

Oliver's Birth In Photo's

No birth story as yet (hard to find the time these days) but here is a magical slideshow Naomi put together of Oliver's birth. Thank you SO much Na, I will cherish this forever. http://animoto.com/play/TSZc8OsdtZrLvFP8HMdalg?utm_content=challenger

Welcome to the world Oliver James!

My little man is finally here! And he was SO worth the wait let me tell you! I haven't written up my birth story yet but will be doing it over the next couple of days so stay tuned. It will be a short one though! In the end he was in a hurry to enter the world. So we are home from hospital now. I had the BEST experience at Redland Hospital. Probably even better then the Mater. The only downside was I could only stay 2 days. I would so have stayed longer if I could of but they were tight on rooms. Oliver is going great. He is a very settled bub and only cries when he wants a cuddle or to be fed. I feel very different this time round. I feel more confident and happy LOL I was a bit overwhelmed by it all with Samuel and never really sat back and enjoyed him in the early days. My milk came in on day 2 and I think expressing prebirth was a big factor in this. He got lots of colostrum so I have a feeling he wouldn't have lost 10% of his birth weight. I am weighing him tomorrow. Samue...

Still here...

40 weeks 3 days Well I'm still here, waiting patiently to meet my little man! On Tuesday I had my 40 week check-up at the hospital. Elliot actually managed to leave work early (although he did go back in when we got back) and come with me. Samuel was at care. When we were called in we went into the room and they took my stats. They weighed me (ewwh) and it seems I've put on about 16kg, which isn't TOO bad! I then hopped up on the table and they listened to bubs heartbeat and had a good feel of my tummy. I think they said he is still 3/5th engaged which is good anyways for a second baby as they usually fully engage at the last minute. I then agreed to a stretch and sweep of the cervix to get things moving. They pulled the curtain closed and she then proceeded with it. All I can say is OUCH !!!! It seemed she was reaching to the moon and back! But in the end she couldn't even feel my cervix as it was too high up. I was actually half screaming out in pain! We then sat dow...

A taste of what's to come...

40 weeks 1 day Well my little castor oil trick didn't work as well as I thought it would! Yesterday the girls came down to have lunch with me and keep me company on my due date. We had gone to the shops to get stuff for lunch and by the time we had got home they had convinced me to have the castor oil that afternoon. I thought what's one days difference to my original plan? So, after lunch I drunk it. Ewwwh horrible horrible stuff! Leah kindly videotaped me drinking it and I was seriously gagging. My lips felt so oiley! That was at 2.20pm. Over the next 3.5 hours I went to the toilet 4 times. At around 5.30pm I noticed some tightening in my stomach, which is what happened last time. I got Samuel into bed at 9pm (late one as he slept til 5pm) and then went to bed myself at 10.30pm, wearing a pad and all just in case. I didn't really fall asleep as the tightening was continuing but by about 11pm they were becoming uncomfortable. El had come to bed but I was moving around too ...

Beenleigh Fate Fun!

39 weeks 6 days One day to go, can you believe it?! Argh, its gone SO quick! But I feel very very ready to meet him now, so bring on labour day, which hopefully shouldn't be too much further away! (Better not of my stomach may split open LOL) Just thought I'd try and fit one more blog update in before the big day and before my life turns upside down with busyness, looking after my two boys. Well yesterday, after Elliot got home from work, took Samuel and I out to the annual Beenleigh Fate. Although it was a little expensive (in my opinion) to get in ($15 each adult), it was just nice to get out of the house and do something fun as a family. Because this may very well be our last weekend just the 3 of us. Elliot took Sammy on the massive (well massive for a local attraction anyways) Ferris Wheel and at first he was OK but every time the cage would pass me, and I would wave to him, he would start to cry. Even Ell said it was pretty dam high up. After 5 mins El asked the guy to le...

Yawn!

38 weeks 4 days Well its 5.12am and I just cant not get comfy! I am dead tired but whenever I lay down I just feel so uncomfortable :( I went to bed at 11pm and Samuel woke at 2am. A bottle didn't help settle him and he just looked too wide awake for that time of the morning. I changed his nappy and made some weatbix as even I was hungry. He ate some of that, had some panadol as his fingers were in his mouth, and then another bottle. He finally fell back asleep but since then I haven't been able to. Ive still got another 1.5 weeks of feeling like this :( No idea why his sleeps are so random. Up until a few days ago he was sleeping through again without a peep and then he pulls this crap. God help me when I'm dealing with him and a newborn. Well I had my 38 week checkup on Tuesday. Everything perfect as always. The midwife had a good feel and he's 3/5th engaged. She said when I come back in at 40 weeks she can do an internal to get things going but I think I'm just g...

Officially over it!

37 weeks 4 days Ok, I'm officially over this pregnancy! I feel soooo fat and squished and just wanna meet the little man already! I feel so tight and can hardly breathe sometimes! He must be so cozy and warm in there cause I feel his every movement! Today was a crappy day. Samuel missed his day sleep so we were both absolutely smashed with tiredness and I'm such a cranky mummy these days :( I just try and remember it wont be for much longer. Just seems like everything 'naughty' thing Samuel does fires me up! I'm constantly bending down to pick things up and following him to make sure he isn't wrecking anything! Not to mention I can never go to the toilet is peace LOL But El wont touch me with a ten foot pole (aka DTD) as he knows it can bring on labour! I should shock him and announce when he gets home from work that Ive drunk castor oil and am just waiting on my waters to break LOL But I'll give it a bit more time, another week and Ill be ready for the push...

My photo-shoot with the ever talented Naomi V

Image
37 weeks 1 day Today I had my pregnancy photo-shoot with Naomi up at Mount Tambourine (no bare belly or half naked shots this time). It was SO beautiful up there. It would seriously be my dream to live up there but I reckon I'd be a nigel as I wouldn't come down the mountain very often. It makes me feel sick going up and down the windey roads. Na picked me up and we got macca's on the way (she remained good while I was bad) and then make the track up there. She took us to this beautiful street with only 5 properties on it and they all over looked into the mountain. So beautiful. A couple even came out on their balcony to watch us LOL I felt a bit stupid at first but then I finally relaxed and we got some awesome shots, which I'll cherish forever. The things you do for good photos! - stepping in muddy water, rocks in shins, lugging yourself onto a fence, getting dirty feet and freezing your nips off on the top of a mountain! I also had some friendly horses come up for a ...
