Daydream Island - our daydream......
Elliot and I have just returned from 6 amazing days at the beautiful Daydream Island Resort. We had such a relaxing time there and really renewed our energy levels.
On the 1st November we dropped the kids off at daycare and said goodbye. We made our way to Brisbane airport and caught a 1.5 hr plane flight to Hamilton Island. When we got off the plane we were amazed at how hot it was and just how clear and blue the water was.
We dropped our bags off at the shuttle and then hopped on a boat. We arrived at Daydream Island about 45 minutes later. It looked incredible. On arrival off the jetty we received a shell necklace like Fiji LOL
We checked in and went to our room. The view was amazing and looked right over the water. There were kangaroos outside our balcony and these funny skinny legged birds that made weird noises.

Over the next few days our time just consisted of sleeping in, stuffing our faces at the buffet breakfast, siestas, swimming in the pools (one with swim up bar), sunbaking, kayaking going for long walks around the island, eating out at the scrumptious restaurants and watching movies on the big screen.
A few days before we were to leave Elliot and I went off on a day trip to the beautiful Great Barrier Reef. It was expensive but so very worth it. We left early in the morning with a whole bunch of people and caught a boat back to Hamilton Island. We waited around until the massive boat arrived to take us there. We hopped on and took the 2 hr boat ride to the GBR. We couldn't believe how long it took to get there. We saw a few people vomiting over the side and I was glad it wasn't me.
When we finally saw the pontoon we knew we were there! We were pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. We hopped off and went straight for the snorkling gear. Elliot decided to wear a stinger suit whereas I went for the full wetsuit. The large in the stinger suits were only in hot pink so it was really funny when El got dressed LOL.
It was so amazing jumping into the water as it was so dark and deep. As you started swimming you could see the bank of the reef build up and then you were swimming above beautiful coral and a lot of fish. We got our photo taken as we were jumping off the platform and when we were underwater.
We had a buffet lunch and then snorkeled some more. It was such an amazing experience. One we will never forget.
